We are incredibly proud that news of our work and learning about our local heritage and this year, our special link to HMS Hood, has reached the newspapers!
The double page spread tells of how the ship’s anchor is on our school badge and why the school was linked to the then flagship of the Navy in the second world war. The article also shows Barry Roberts, Chairman of the HMS Hood Association, visiting the school and how the letters written between the sailors and our Applegarth children have been carefully looked after by our local Records Office. It also shows the Hood’s Prayer, written by Applegarth pupils, and kept under the hat of the sailors on board.
