As a memorable start to our Stone Age learning, children in Year 3/4 travelled back in time and imagined themselves to be in the Stone Age. They foraged for berries, flowers and leaves on the school field, then used the Wildlife Area to make mixtures (medicinal but not to be tested…!), pressing their finds on to animal hide (linen) and even carefully made charcoal to replicate how cave art could have been drawn.A wonderful, immersive experience that allowed the children to experience life in real time in a different age, asking questions and exploring how the natural environment was used. Well done, Stone Age historians!
