The Queen’s Hat

This week we have been reading a story called ‘The Queen’s Hat’.  The Queen loses her hat in the wind and we follow her in the story as she chases it past lots of London’s famous landmarks.  The role play area is now a hat shop and many children have been engaging in different ‘London’ inspired activities including: making London buses, baking cakes for a Queen, designing maps of London, producing information booklets about London’s landmarks (Year 1) and building bridges and giant clocks.  We’ve also been singing songs about London and learning about the royal wedding taking place this weekend. All good fun!

  1. Some of the work the children have produced, including the maps, look fantastic! Katie has also enjoyed learning about the history of London and has been telling us about the Great Fire of London starting in Pudding Lane. They’re all having such fun with the globetrotting topic.

  2. It is fabulous to see the whole ‘learning journey’ on this blog. The outcomes are clear as is the enjoyment on the children’s faces engaged in such active learning balanced with their recorded work. Well done.
Thank you for finding the time to share for everyone to see.
