Today year 3 and 4 from Galileo class visited Scruton Station. When we got there we all got dressed up, the boys wore a waste coat, a flat cap and neckerchief. The girls wore a white pinafore. After we got dressed up we got introduced to the staff that work there. In groups, we did different activities that they would do in 1917. In the activities we did lots of different things including weighing parcels, writing out postcards and more. Once we had finished all the activities we went outside we took some photos in our outfits. Then it was time to go home. We had a lovely time at Scruton Station. Thank you to all the staff there and parents who came today.
Thank you for reading by Sophie and Kate from Galileo class.
Virginia Arrowsmith, the organiser of the visits this week said of the year 5/6 children ‘It was evident that the children have gained so much from your Heritage Weeks over the past 3 years. Their local knowledge and their understanding of the local area and how this fits with Great Britain as a whole, was very impressive.’
Mrs Browne and I think your photos are wonderful and it looks like you have had a fantastic time!
It was lovely to work with you all. Well done!
best wishes

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your visit to Scruton Station 1917. Thank you for all your help running the station – we said it was a busy place didn’t we? We’ve still not found our missing porter, Albert…!
