BBC Ten Pieces

Key Stage Two children have been immersed in music this half term, enjoying learning about BBC’s Ten Pieces.

In particular, we’ve looked at No Place Like by Kerry Andrew which involves feelings about our homes. Children were inspired and thought of their own version, composing words and phrases that encompassed what their home meant to them. We included body sounds and even beat boxing too!

Their video will be uploaded on to the BBC website for a nationwide audience. Wow! Well done everyone!

  1. I was delighted to join the KS2 children today listening attentively to the second composition from the BBC Ten Pieces. They were looking for similarities and differences in the two pieces. Mrs Lumsdon asked the children their opinions and tried hard to develop their musical vocabulary. The children identified the conductor, percussionists and the orchestra.

    • I was SO impressed by all the children today. They clearly remembered our composition based on ‘No Place Like’ and could explain how today’s piece was similar and different.
As I looked around the hall, it was lovely to see some children listening carefully with eyes closed and some who just couldn’t help moving to the music, arms swaying or fingers clicking. A heart- warming sight!
