  1. It certainly looks like the children had a magnificent day. The first time Applegarth has taken children to this Museum, teachers are always looking for new and exciting opportunities for children to both apply their learning and enhance it by learning beyond the school classroom.
    After the visit Cerys told me it was her best ‘ever’ vist. I hope the children managed to share their day by talking with their families at home.

  2. On Tuesday 13th June 2017 Bethany Hamilton class went to a museum called Great north museum, Hancock Newcastle. We started of going on a bus from school to the museum. The bus trip was one and a half hours. The bus trip was so fun. When we got there we put our bags in a big blue box.

    Then we went to the Egyptian exhibition and we had a look around we found two Egyptian mummies. They were so funny to look at. They were so old and they looked black. There teeth were still there. One of the mummies was in a coffin it was all different colours.
    Then we went in the afterlife. The afterlife had a moving thing on the flour it was so fun. Lots of people liked the afterlife.

    Next we did some activities and games they were my favourite things there. They were so fun. We had so much fun doing the activities. We had to find lots of things.

    Then we went down stairs to learn about mummies at the mummification work shop we had a look at the x-rays of the mummies with Catherin. The mummy’s names were Bekt en Hor and Irtyre. There names were so funny.

    Then we got our bags and lunches and sat outside and had our lunch. The lunch was yummy.
    After that we went to the dinosaur exhibition I saw a 12m long t-rex. There was so much more. Like a tiger, lion, mere cats and lots more that I have forgot. Moving on was the Greek room there was lots that I have forgot but the greek room had lots of speakers that were talking about greeks.

  3. On Tuesday 13th Bethany Hamilton class took a visit to the Great North Hancock Museum. We travelled by bus and it took a whole hour to get there. When we arrived we put our bags in a blue container then went upstairs to the Egyptian exhibit. We split the class into 5 groups to do different activities my favourite was going through the Afterlife room it was amazing to watch.

  4. On Tuesday 13th of June Bethany Hamilton class went to the Great North: Museum, Hancock. We left our bags in a container then we went upstairs to see the Ancient Egyptian exhibition. We did some activities about Ancient Egypt. I went into this room with a projector. It was telling us about how to get to the afterlife. We went back down stairs to learn about the two real life mummies in the Museum. We had our lunch outside in the nice weather. After lunch, we went to all of the exhibitions. We saw the dinosaurs, the Romans, animals, woodlands and Greeks. In the woodlands exhibition there were pictures of wildlife and when you put on the 3D glasses it made it 3D. Later. we went back to school. We saw Newcastle football stadium, the Angel of the North and the River Tyne. I had a lot of fun and my favourite exhibition was the animals.

  5. On Tuesday 13th of June we went to Great North Museum in Newcastle we went past the Angle of North and we went past the river Tyne we did all about mummification. There names were Bakt en Hor and Itryru and we saw them. We did about the after life. It was cool! We had lunch and then we went to the dinosaurs part. It was amazing. We saw animals like monkeys and elephant. There was a lot of cool things in museum. There was One mummy who had two intestines. I think it was Itryru. They were girls. In the Egyptian part, we were in groups and we had 5 dice that we had to roll on the floor. You had to find a cat model. It was a small cat model. We saw Egyptian writing on rock.

  6. On Tuesday the 13th Hamilton class went on a school trip to the Great North Museum: Handcock Newcastle. On the way there I saw the Angel of the North and the river Tyne it was amazing. When we got to the museum we put our bags, coats and lunches in a big container. Then we went upstairs to the ancient Egyptian exhibition then we had a look round. I saw two real Mummies. It was so cool! We went into a machine and it told us about the afterlife. Then we split into groups of six and did some activities after the activities we went to a work shop. We learnt some more about Egyptians pharaohs and Mummies. After we did that, we went out and ate our lunch in the big, beautiful garden the garden had a waterfall in it. After we ate our lunch, we went to a room that had a twenty four foot dinosaur skeleton in and it had two real life snakes. Then we went into a second room that had fake animals in and it had a pretend shark cage and a fake shark pretending to eat the cage.

  7. Tuesday 13th June 2017
    Bethany Hamilton class went on a school trip to Hancock Museum. It was an hour and a half drive on the bus to Newcastle. On the way there we saw the Angel of the North and we drove over the river Tyne (on a bridge). Then we went past Newcastle football stadium and then we got to the Great North Museum: Hancock, Newcastle. We got to the museum and we lined up to go upstairs and we looked at the exhibition and I saw the two mummies called Ityru and Bakt en Hor. Then we did some work on Egypt hieroglyphics and finding the Egyptian palaces on a map. We found them all.

  8. On Tuesday 13th June 2017 Hamilton class went to the Great North Museum: Hancock, Newcastle.
    When we got to the Museum we started looking at the Ancient Egyptian artefacts. We were playing games in small groups of 6, it was fun. Second we went to the mummy workshop to learn about the two mummies Irtyru and Bakt en Hor. We all saw the x-rays of the mummy ‘insides. Then we went to the dinosaurs and crystals compartment. I went to the crystals first. Me and my best friend Cerys really loved the massive T-rex Skeleton (it looked scary).After that we came to the nature part of the museum. There was a giant mammoth, sun fish, graph, chimp, cheetah and a seal. We also saw some Roman coin ornaments.

    School trip

    On Tuesday the 13th Bethany Hamilton class went to Newcastle to see the Great North Museum, Hancock.
    At first I thought it would be boring but to my surprise it was actually quite fun. First of all we started looking in an Egyptian part and we looked at the artefacts and I even found a purple crystal that I have at home. After that we did some quizzes and tasks. When we had finished we went to learn how to mummify and we saw REEL MUMMIES! And we saw an x-ray. After that we went to a garden for lunch.

  10. On Tuesday 13th June my class Bethany Hamilton went on a school trip to the Great North Museum in Newcastle. On a bus on the way there we saw The Angle of the North and we crossed over the River Tyne. When we got there we put our bags in a big blue box. We went upstairs and we were split in to 5 groups to look around the museum. There were two real mummies in the Egyptian exhibition and lots of interesting artefacts. We then went back down stairs and in to a room where we investigated two real mummies. The mummies were called Bakt en Hor and Irtyru. We learnt about mummification and we went around 5 tables looking at x-rays, CT scans and a 3D mummy head. After lunch we went back up stairs and we looked around the rest of the museum. We looked at the animals that had been stuffed and the fake plastic ones, the rest of the Ancient Egypt exhibition and then we went back down stairs and we got back on the bus to go back to school. It was a lot of fun at the museum, my favourite part was looking at all the animals, particularly the stuffed otters!.

  11. On Tuesday 13 June we went to the Great North Museum: Hancock, Newcastle we went on a bus to get there. When we got inside we put our bags into a box. When we went up stars we went to the Egyptian exhibition. There were tonnes of different ancient things. There was a mummy that had been brought to Newcastle in 1825. Her name was irtyru and she was unwrapped in 1830. There was another mummy called Bakt en Hor she had never been unrapped but there was a fake model of her. It looked like the Egyptians had used the wrong oil because her face was covered in blobs .Then we had our lunch. After we had our lunch, we went to the dinosaur exhibition. There were different dinosaur fossils, there were t-Rex bones but next to the t-Rex there was a royal python. We moved to the roman exhibition where there were tall trees with ghosts on the top. The sea had lots of sword fish and pointy fish. Then we moved up to the Greek area. There were lots of coins.

  12. On the 13th of June Bethany Hamilton class went to The Great North Museum Hancock Newcastle. When we got there we went upstairs to the ancient Egyptian exabition and did some activities. For our first activity we had to roll a dice and find what it said on the dice. For the second activity we had to put places in Egypt on a map. Next we built a Lego pyramid out of eight bricks and finally we had to learn about the afterlife. After that, we headed back down stairs to learn about two ancient mummy’s called Irtyru and Bakt en hor then we had dinner. Next we walked round all the other exabitions finally we got back on the bus to go back to school. In the end I had a great time.

  13. On Tuesday 13th June Hamilton class went to The Great North Museum: Hancock, Newcastle. While we were on the bus we saw The River Tyne and The Angle of the North, we were on the bus for about an hour and a half. When we got there we put all our bags in a big blue box so we didn’t have to carry them around the museum. First of all we went into the Ancient Egyptian exhibition to have a little look around there were two real mummies that were called Irtyru and Bakt en Hor (Bakt en Hor hasn’t even been unwrapped yet!). Then we all got split into five groups to do different activities. After that we got split into another four groups ready to go to the mummification workshop which was about the two real mummies in the museum (Irtyru and Bakt en Hor). Meanwhile Mrs Hughes, Mrs Barugh and Mrs O’Toole were getting all of our bags out of the blue box ready for dinner, so when the workshop finished we got our bags and went outside to eat our dinner. Then we went to look around the rest of the museum my favourite part was when a man that worked at the museum gave us some 3D glasses, held up some 3D pictures of different animals and told us how they survived through the four seasons. Unfortunately it was time to go back to school we had an amazing day and I really enjoyed it.

  14. On Tuesday 13th June the Hamilton class went to Newcastle museum, Hancock. At round about half eight we set off on the orange and white bus. On the journey, we went past the Angel of the North and over the river Tyne. When we got to Newcastle we all saw the Newcastle stadium.
    As we went inside the museum, we went straight upstairs into the ancient Egyptian section. For the first 15 to 20 minutes we had a little mooch around and after that we got into our groups of 5. I saw a mummified Egyptian in a tomb. As we went down the stairs our class came to a halt and went into a small room with four tables that had a couple of pictures on them.
    After learning about two ancient Egyptians Hamilton class had lunch we all went around the other section of the museum. We went to the dinosaurs and Reggie loved it! We went to lots of other sections and then we went home on the bus.

  15. On Tuesday the 13th of June 2017 Bethany Hamilton class went to The Great North Museum ,Hancock Newcastle .We travelled to the Museum by bus and we saw several monuments like The Angel of the North ,The River Tyne and the Newcastle Stadium. As we entered The building, we had to put our bags in a blue container. First we went into the Ancient Egypt exhibition. We split up into groups to look around . Everyone was in The Journey to the Afterlife feeling uncomfortable because of the snakes on the floor as a hologram . After a while we did activities in our grou. My favourite was Lego pyramids. Next, we went to learn about mummification and learnt about two real mummies named Bakt En Hor and irtyru after that we had lunch and I got a tuna baguette . Then we went to the dinosaur exhibition (which was Reggie’s favourite part) that had a T-rex skeleton in it . There were Royal Pythons ,fish and allsorts next we went into the forest exhibition and saw the great wall of china but it was tiny. We saw some under-water beast models like spider crabs ,great whites and more then we went to the Greek exhibition then back to the Ancient Egypt one for about 5 minutes. We went back to school on the bus which took an hour and a half.

  16. Tuesday 13th June
    Today Bethany Hamilton went to the Great North Museum: Hancock Newcastle. We went on a bus with 49 seats. We passed the Angel of the North and the River Tyne. It took 1 hour and a half to get to the museum. When we got to the museum we placed our bags in a big blue container then looked at the Egyptian exhibition and saw two real Egyptian mummies, some pottery and lots more. Then we went to a workshop and learnt about two mummies called Irtyru and Bakt en Hor and saw their x-rays. Finally we went to the underwater and dinosaur exhibition.

  17. Tuesday 13th June
    Bethany Hamilton class went to Hancock Museum and travelled in a bus. We saw the Angel of the North. The museum had 2 real mummies from Egypt and we saw the information behind the scenes. Before we went to the Ancient Egypt part, we put our bags in a bag store. There was the afterlife part and we did 5 activities, then we did 4 more activities which were all fun. We had lunch, and then we went to the dinosaur parts and other of the museum.
    We got to use 3D glasses and we saw a bird fly out of the picture. It was best trip I’ve been on. I hope we go again.
