Despite the freezing temperature, rain, sleet and snow, the year 2 children thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Fountains Abbey to kickstart our topic Towers, Tunnels and Turrets. They learned about a day in the life of a monk: what they wore, where they slept, how they only had 4 baths a year, how they remained silent and so much more! They were a credit to Applegarth School in how they listened, moved around the Abbey and the questions they asked to further their own learning. Thank you to all the adults who braved the cold too!
We have since received a lovely message from Janet the Learning Officer at Fountains Abbey. “Despite the weather the children were full of so many amazing questions.”
Thank you for taking them and braving the cold. Blake really enjoyed himself.
Wonderful photos! Looks like a great time was had by all.
