Heritage Week – Aircraft Explodes by Applegarth School 1943

The children in Year 3/4 today learnt about an accident that took place on December 2nd 1943.  They investigated the crash using primary and secondary sources of evidence.  All children took a short walk to witness how close the crash was to the school and we noticed the blue plaque at the site.  The audio file is an actor’s voice, recounting the words of Maurice Dobson who was a schoolboy at the time.  The activities today included using the War Graves Commission website to find out more about the 7 crew members who lost their lives.
