How do we hear?

After using books and the Internet to research the structure of the ear, we made play dough in order to create a model of the ear. Children then labelled their diagram. Children could be heard practising the relevant vocabulary Β with their peers. They also had to think hard about the scale of the different parts of the ear. Their final challenge was to go to another adult in school and explain how we hear using the scientific vocabulary to support their explanation.

  1. These look great. It was wonderful that some of the older children came down to Year 3/4 to share with us all the things they’d learnt!

  2. Such a creative way to help the children learn about the structure of the ear. Explaining to others will help the children embed their learning. The photos look fabulous.
