Forest Friday 07.12.18 – Christmas gifts and more

This week for Forest Friday we decided that the wildlife deserved some gifts this Christmas so the children went to work to make a range of treats including hanging ‘sticky sticks’ from branches (sticks dipped in honey and then dipped in bird seed)  and threading apple and bread chunks onto wire and hanging them.  The children have been reading ‘After the Storm’ by Nick Butterworth and some children were inspired to make new homes for the woodland creatures who had lost their homes in the storm.  Bows and arrows were also a bit hit!

The children have obviously been inspired by the class book they’re reading and chose to engage in a range of activities including making mini wheelbarrows in the creative area, writing party lists for all the woodland animals, retelling the story with figures and additional characters and collecting data about the weather.

  1. They have learnt so much! I know the creatures in the nature area will be very grateful for their gifts. Thank you Bees.
