Digestion, muscles, problem solving and poetry

It’s been a busy, fun packed week in Years 3 and 4.  In science the children have been learning more about human and animal bodies; working scientifically to measure bicep muscles when the arm is straight and bent, as well as learning about human digestion and how owls digest food.  In maths we’ve been solving problems relating to multiplication and division and learning about remainders.  In literacy we’ve been reading a range of poetry about birds of prey and the children have been building up a vocabulary list to describe the movement and features of these birds.  We’ll publish a selection of haikus early next week.

  1. These photographs really do show how much learning takes place. The Y34 have been enjoying their science – they will remember these ‘models’ of digestion. The use of place value counters and cubes are providing strong images for the children to not only complete division calculations but understand them and therefore apply them more confidently in problems.
