In Maths No Problem this week, all pupils in Years 3 and 4 have been using equipment to develop their understanding of division. They’ve recognised that 20 divided by 5, for example, can be solved by both sharing into 5 equal groups and by sorting into groups of 5. Year 4 pupils have been dividing multiples of 7, 9, 11, and 12.
Mr Edwards and I have visited classes over the last few weeks and it has been great to see the children working in pairs, discussing their maths, explaining their reasoning and using the resources so well. The use of ‘jottings and journals’ to demonstrate their understanding, to compare methods and explain their solutions has been great to see.
