Oh, we do like to be beside the seaside!

Year 1 and 2 have had a very busy week! On Tuesday Year 2 visited Runswick Bay whilst Year 1 took part in the local Fun Run with other schools, and on Wednesday Year 1 then went to Runswick Bay too.

The children all had the opportunity to find creatures of all shapes and sizes when rock pooling, looked for fossils and worked independently and then in teams to create some beach art.  The final challenge of the day was to climb up a VERY steep hill. There were some tired legs at the top!

A big thank you to the parent helpers who were all absolutely brilliant.  This visit is part of our “Beachcombers” topic and will hopefully help the children to learn lots of seaside vocabulary which they can use in reading and writing.

  1. What a great experience for the children being able to explore wildlife in its natural habitat. I know that the children really enjoyed their day and the visit has provided that first hand experience that they can now use across the curriculum.

  2. I can’t wait to see the displays of ‘vibrant vocabulary’ resulting from these visits. A visit to remember. Thanks to our PTA for the donation towards the visits and to our families for their voluntary contributions. Without these we would not be able to offer these educational visits that make all the difference!
