Learning to tie your laces starts here!

Gosh what a hive of activity there was in Year 1/2 today as we embarked on our first ReflectED lesson, learning our new skill of tying our shoe laces.  Some people felt relieved because this was a skill they had already mastered, hopefully their coaching skills will be better than mine because the children rated my demonstration as a “yellow”! Other children rated themselves as red because they don’t know at all how to tie their laces…YET!

What impressed me the most was that already our children are starting to be able to identify the aspects of learning they can do and those they still need to work on.  For example Dylan said he has been practising at home how to tie his laces. He knows how to do the “cross over bit” and needs to work on the “hoop bit” next!

Well done everyone – a super start and fantastic attitude!

  1. Well done everyone. I have no doubt that Mrs Jackson will progress to feeling more ‘confident’ (green) or ‘able to coach/teach’ (blue) as she sees how well the children of Puffins ties laces. Well done also to Mr Whiteley for his clear demonstrations.

Our ReflectEd lessons across the school have been enjoyed by all. Thanks to everyone for managing to fit these research lessons in during a difficult and busy week.

I have no doubt our Y1/2 children will have a go at trying to teach you how to tie laces at home if you ask them.
