Some children in Year 5/6 crossed the Applegarth today, entered a tiny wrought iron gate and found a fabulous secret garden. Lots of the children had often walked past this entrance and had never realised that it was there.
Four volunteers( Liz,Mike,Martin and Dave ) took time out of their days to talk to the children about how the garden had been set up, what its purpose was and what lived there.
It was a flying visit with 14 out of each class visiting at a time but the children thoroughly enjoyed it and are keen to go back and help out.
Next Monday the rest of the Year 5/6 will visit and then we are planning to talk to the volunteers to see how we can get more ‘hands on’.
A huge ‘Thank you ‘ to Liz, Martin, Dave and Mike for their very informative talk.
What a find! Thanks to everyone ho allowed our pupils to visit this special place.
Lily loved this visit to the Secret Garden and took Harry and I to see it after school for a tour of what she had seen. I didn’t know it was there!
