Cross Country Finals

You just get those days sometimes that are a ‘good day at the office’. Today was one of those days.

12 excited, if not a little nervous, KS2 children represented the school at the area finals at Knayton Rural Park today. Schools from all over the Hambleton area took their top runners to battle for a top 8 place to take them through to the County Finals of the Cross Country.

Lets just get this straight. At Applegarth we have 12 children who are in the top 240 runners in the Hambleton Area. After today’s event, we found that 4 of them were the TOP 8 RUNNERS FOR THEIR AGE GROUP IN THE HAMBLETON AREA and would therefore be going and representing not only Applegarth but Hambleton at Dalby Forest on 22nd March 2018.

All the children gave their best. They fought hard and it was clear each one cared about their own, and each other’s, performance. There were some great runs and some strong finishes.

Well done to Jude, Summer, Oliver and Sam for making it through to the county finals.

Thank you to all the parents who came and supported the team (and for adhering to the parking rules) and to Mrs O’Toole for her assistance and Mr Hilton for his words of encouragement to the team.

  1. Fantastic achievements all of you – an enormous well done. Mrs Hughes was as giddy as a kipper when she got back to school!
