Forest Friday Bumblebees 27.01.17

The weather was very chilly today in the wildlife area but the children remained busy and kept warm.  Today some children noticed lots of pine cones had mysteriously been scattered around the wildlife area.  Some had been nibbled by squirrels and other remained intact.  The children enjoyed collecting and sorting them.  Other children lifted a bucket of pine cones up a tree using a simple pulley system to feed squirrels above the ground.  We also introduced some eggs this session and discussed the possible mother of the eggs.  Children were inspired to build eggs and other habitats to provide shelter for a range of animals.  Finally, a few children were keen to build dens using tarpaulin.
